Prototyping is where mathematical drawing meets spatial reality. Before cutting expensive, seasoned materials, we construct rough assemblies in soft cedar, wire, and lead weights.
This loose mockup allows the maker to verify leverage ratios, check clearance zones, and observe gravity-fed paths in real space. It is a stage of continuous adjustment, refining pivot points and altering balance bars until the movement achieves a preliminary state of harmony. The lessons of this rough model are then transferred back to the original graphite drawings before final execution.
