To build a machine that has no counterpart in the world requires an unhurried protocol of drafting, testing, and refinement. In our studio, time is treated as a core component rather than a constraint.
The process starts on a flat hardwood desk, mapping clearances with graphite grids. We then construct loose mockups to verify leverage, ratios, and balances. Only when the operational geometries prove clear do we begin working in heavy metal plates and seasoned timber. Each surface is scraped by hand, achieving tolerances that rival ancient optical components. This devotion to detail ensures that once a finished piece leaves the workshop, it requires no external energy to maintain its alignment, functioning flawlessly as a permanent element of its new environment.
