Where two surfaces meet in movement, friction is the enemy. To combat this, we use synthetic sapphire and ruby bearings, hand-seated inside bronze collars.
The steel pivots that rotate within these stones are hardened to sixty-two Rockwell, then polished with progressive grades of oil-suspended natural diamond paste. By polishing down to a 0.25-micron grain, we remove all microscopic tool marks, creating a surface so smooth that it operates with dry friction coefficients near zero, requiring no external lubrication that could attract dust over time.
